                  Liquid Cooling

                    About this event

It’s well known that poorly designed thermal management systems can result in suboptimal performance or system failure. What isn’t as well understood are the material properties and myriad calculations that all need to be taken into consideration when developing a high-performing liquid cooling system -- or the role that quick disconnects play in supporting reliability, uptime, ease of maintenance and system performance. It’s complicated but it doesn’t need to be confusing.

CPC’s Application Engineering Manager, Andres Abraham provides tips and insights that will help engineers understand which types of quick disconnects (and other components) are suited for liquid cooling systems. And he will describe how fluid selection decisions should impact the specification of subcomponents in connectors and other system parts in the wetted loop.

                    • The variety of fluids that are considered for liquid cooling and their associated pros/cons and how these choices should influence other specifications
                    • The importance of flow performance vs product dimension for comparison and selection
                    • How and why quick disconnect features such as valve type and termination style impact system flow and pressure
                    • Which connector styles are well suited for use as part of complex manifold systems
                    • When to engage manufacturer engineering teams for custom solutions or assistance with advice for swift application development
                    • The operational and ease of use benefits of different styles of quick disconnect products
                    • Why liquid cooling system subcomponent materials of construction matter (metals, polymers, elastomers, etc.)
                    • How to reference performance data for liquid cooling system optimization

                          About this event

As cell and gene therapy companies work to deliver life-changing results to as many people as possible, questions about scale loom large.

Fluid path optimization helps unlock the scaling potential. Aseptic connectors support this goal by eliminating the need for specialized tools and equipment and creating sterile connections even in non-sterile environments.

In this GEN webinar, our distinguished speaker, Eoin Dolan, will review the topics of process safeguarding, operator convenience, and true scalability solutions, in addition to presenting cost-benefit considerations.

In this webinar you will learn:

                          • A complete and validated method for aseptically connecting most tubing-based operations without biosafety cabinets or capital equipment expenditures.
                          • How aseptic solutions support scale-up while addressing misprocessing concerns.
                          • The ways in which single-use systems are increasingly being used in cell and gene therapy applications

                                      Highlights

CPC’s Applications Development Manager Barry Nielsen presented liquid cooling trends at the Thermal Management Expo. Watch his short recap of the top three takeaways from the event as well as his answer to an audience inquiry about product customization.

                                      Thermal Management Expo Takeaways:

                                      1. Greater power usage. More power = more heat generation. Engineers should understand the trajectory of heat load increases with each product innovation or new technology implementation.
                                      2. Materials is the latest buzz. From the opening keynote to closing comments, everyone was talking about new materials or using previously unconsidered materials in new ways. Weight reduction is a driving factor.
                                      3. US-based supply chain/manufacturing will be preferred per the recent infrastructure legislation.
                                      4. Single- and two-phase immersion are appealing approaches but technology solutions seem be be lagging. This is an area to continue to watch.
                                      5. Drybreak (or non-spill) quick disconnects (QDs) -- like CPC's Everiis® brand QDs -- are the most preferred style of connector but many aren't enlightened on system components' valve structure mechanics and performance.
                                      6. Product customization opportunities are readily available to serve unique needs by many component providers. (Barry elaborated that engineers should inquire of suppliers, regardless of the component or subcomponent that needs modification.)

                                            About this event

In a market where efficiencies, cost savings, repeatable processes and safety are vital, cell and gene therapy companies must routinely evaluate their processes and analyze where improvements can be made, even down to the way they are managing fluid transfer.

CPC examines the total cost of ownership of tube welded connections and single-use aseptic connectors. In this presentation he discusses vital evaluating criteria such capital expenditure, raw materials and utilities, but also dives deeper into considerations such as training, downtime, validations, and connection speed.

Advancement in Single-use Aseptic Connector Material Technology Enables Greater Reliability and Application Flexibility

Single-use downstream applications including, chromatography, filtration, and purification create difficult environments for supplier components due to the presence of chemicals across a wide pH range.  Aseptic connectors are crucial components to these processes to maintain efficiency and sterility.  For this reason, CPC is introducing a connector utilizing chemically stable and robust materials. This presentation will go through the challenge these applications present to connectors, the engineering decisions made to select the new product, and the benefits to the process of using CPC connectors.
