How to Choose the Right Connector

With so many connection options, it can be difficult to determine which connector is best suited for a specific application. Pressure, temperature, chemical type and concentration as well as operating environment can affect the performance of a connector. By understanding your application requirements and selecting the correct connection type, you can achieve better performance and sealing results. If you need further assistance in determining chemical compatibility, CPC’s expert engineers can answer questions and provide product samples to test in your own application conditions.
Understanding your application is the key to proper selection of a connection.
Fittings, luers and couplings are the most common tubing connectors. While each is appropriate for certain types of applications, they are not necessarily interchangeable; it’s important to specify the connector that satisfies your specific application requirements.

The type of media flowing through a connection can affect the strength, surface appearance, color and performance of the connection.
Certain o-ring materials offer better chemical resistance while others offer better heat resistance or cold flexibility within your application. For specific chemical properties, refer to our Chemical Compatibility Guide.
